Gandhi Jayanti

The Gandhi Jayanti and the International Day of Peace and Non-Violence was observed on 2nd October, 2016 in Copenhagen. The event was organized at the Gandhi Park in Copenhagen, where statue of Mahatma Gandhi is located. A large number of members of Indian community, professionals, Danish citizens who are friends of India, followers of Gandhiji etc. were present on the occasion, where a short cultural programme was also organized including a Bharatnatyam dance performance and singing of Bhajans. Ms Tine Elisabeth Larsen, who has written a book [Gandhis Ven] on Mahatma Gandhi and runs a charity [Danish-Indian Welfare Association] aimed at betterment of girls in India was the main speaker on the occasion. The programme concluded with Ambassador’s address to the gathering.
