Change of Name, Address, etc. after Marriage/Divorce

  • Requirements for change of maiden name to married name, address, ECNR status on marriage and for inclusion of husband's name in the passport:

Change of Name/Address/Date of Birth

    • If change of name is due to change of religion then Change of Religion Affidavit may also be submitted.
  • Requirements for change of name of minor:
    • Application in the Miscellaneous Services Form (Click here to Download form)
    • Original Passport (including subsequent additional booklets if any)
    • Photocopy of inside cover pages and other relevant pages of the passport.
    • Application on plain paper signed by both the parents.
  • Requirements for change of address:

    • Photocopy of inside cover pages and other relevant pages of the passport.
    • Proof of residential address, i.e., Ration Card, Electricity Bill/Telephone Bill / Property tax return, etc.
    • In case, the present passport was issued by the Passport Issuing Authority other than Embassy of India, Copenhagen (or issued by Embassy of India, Copenhagen within the last one year), a reference is made to the original/previous passport issuing authority and may take a few weeks' time for the confirmation to be received. The address is changed in the passport only after receipt of such confirmation.
  • Requirements for change of date of birth:

    • Photocopy of inside cover pages and other relevant pages of the passport.
    • Declaratory order from a First Class Judicial Magistrate in India instructing that a correction in date of birth be made. (In case the applicant had actually mentioned correct date of birth in his passport application form and provided supporting documents, but the mistake was only in writing of the passport, the Judicial Magistrate's order is not required for carrying out correction of date of birth.)

Emigration Clearance Not Required (ECNR)

  • Eligibility for ECNR status (any one of the following):
    • Staying abroad for more than 3 years (either at a stretch or otherwise)
    • Persons with 10+2 qualifications from a recognized Central/State Board or possessing higher degrees from recognized Central/State Universities.
    • Persons possessing two years' diploma from any institute recognized by National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) or State Council of Vocational Training (SCVT).
    • Professional Degree holders.
    • Income-tax payers.
    • Seamen in possession of CDC and sea cadets.
    • Qualified nurses under the Indian Nursing Council Act 1947.
    • Gazetted government servants
    • Managerial level employees in hotels, restaurants, public resorts, etc. holding specialized degree in these fields.
    • Spouses and dependent children (up to the age of 24 years) of the above category of persons.
    • Persons over 50 years of age.
    • Children below 18 years of age provided they are accompanied by any or both parents.
  • Requirements:

    • ECNR Affidavit (AFF8.pdf) along with a copy of the relevant documentary proof of eligibility for ECNR status.

Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)

  • Requirements:
    • Application in the Miscellaneous Services Form (Click here to Download form)
    • Original Passport (including subsequent additional booklets if any)
    • Photocopy of inside cover pages and other relevant pages of the passport.
    • Two passport size photographs.
    • Letter from Embassy which has asked for Police Clearance Certificate.
    • In case, the present passport was issued by the Passport Issuing Authority other than Embassy of India, Copenhagen (or issued by Embassy of India, Copenhagen within the last one year), a reference is made to the original/previous passport issuing authority and may take a few weeks' time for the confirmation to be received. The PCC is issued only after receipt of such confirmation.

Non Resident Indian (NRI) Certificate

  • Requirements:
    • Application in the Miscellaneous Services Form (Click here to Download form)
    • Original Passport (including subsequent additional booklets if any)
    • Photocopy of inside cover pages and other relevant pages of the passport.
    • Photocopy of passport page showing first arrival in Denmark.

Birth Certificate & Registration

  • Requirements:
    • The birth of every child born to Indian parent(s) in Denmark is required to be registered with the Embassy of India, Copenhagen, within one year of the birth of child under Section 4(1) of the Indian Citizenship Act, 1955.
    • A Birth Certificate is issued by the Embassy to the child after registering his/her name as an Indian national.
    • An application should also be filed online for issue of an Indian Passport to the New Born child. The printed copy of the application should be submitted to the Embassy with photograph of the child and applicable fees.
    • The registration for Indian Citizenship by descent under Section 4(1) of the Indian Citizenship Act, 1955 should be made online only at http://mha.nic.in/icweb/ic_form_public.aspx.

[Note: Indian Nationals born in Denmark whose birth was registered with the Embassy, may apply for a duplicate copy of the Birth Certificate on payment of Dkr 170. They should provide details of original registration (date and number) and also fill up Birth Certificate Form in duplicate. ]

Life Certificate

  • Requirements for issue of Life Certificate (for pensioners):
    • Original Passport (including subsequent additional booklets if any)
    • Photocopy of inside cover pages and other relevant pages of the passport.
    • Original and one photocopy of the Life Certificate in the Format prescribed by the concerned Bank/Institution to be signed before the Consular Officer of the Embassy.

Emergency Certificate (Emergency Certificate for travelling back to India)

  • Requirements for issue of an Emergency Certificate for one-way travel to India in case of non-availability of a valid Passport with the applicant and where a new passport cannot be issued :
    • Emergency Certificate Form (Form 5.pdf)
    • Letter from sponsor.
    • Affidavit regarding Nationality.
    • Proof of Identity / Passport copy / Driving License, etc.
    • Four ( 4) Identical recent passport size photographs.

Solemnizing Marriage

  • Under the Foreign Marriage Act, 1969, the Embassy is authorized to solemnize a marriage when one or both the partners are Indian citizens and are residing abroad.
  • Requirements - When one partner is Indian and the other partner is a foreigner:
    • An advertisement in the newspaper (both in English and the native language of the Indian partner) in India which is widely read in the hometown of boy/girl giving the name/address and other particulars of the boy/girl, announcing their intention to marry and that if anyone has any objection to the marriage, he/she may contact the Embassy of India, Copenhagen.
    • A letter from the Embassy of the country to which the foreign partner belongs stating that the Embassy does not have any objection to the marriage of its national.
    • An affidavit (Form 8A.pdf) from a court in India on stamp paper issued by a notary and advocate stating that the parents of the Indian partner do not have any objection to the marriage. This affidavit is to be produced by the Indian partner only. Affidavit should be strictly on the lines of the specimen provided in Form 8A.pdf
    • Photocopies of inside cover pages and other relevant pages of the passports of both partners.
    • One passport size recent colour photograph each of both the partners.
    • Marriage Declaration form (Form 8B.pdf) to be submitted to the Consular Officer, duly signed by the partners. The Form is to be signed before the Consular Officer who would attest the same on payment of attestation fee of DKr. 85
    • Marriage fees of Dkr 425/- is to be deposited at the time of submission of the Notice of Intended Marriage (Form 8C.pdf), other documents listed at Sl. 1 to 5 above, at least three months prior to the proposed date of marriage.
  • Requirements - When both the partners are Indian citizens:

Affidavit should be strictly on the lines of the specimen provided in Form 8A.pdf.
    • Photocopies of inside cover pages and other relevant pages of the passports of both partners.
    • One passport size recent colour photograph each of both the partners.
    • Marriage Declaration form (Form 8B.pdf) to be submitted to the Consular Officer, duly signed by the partners. The Form is to be signed before the Consular Officer who would attest the same on payment of attestation fee of Dkr. 85/-

    • Original and one photocopy of the Power of Attorney to be signed before the Consular Officer of the Embassy.

Power of Attorney (other than Property Matters)

  • Requirements for attestation of Power of Attorney (other than Property Matters):
    • Original Passport (including subsequent additional booklets if any)
    • Photocopy of inside cover pages and other relevant pages of the passport.
    • Original and one photocopy of the Power of Attorney to be signed before the Consular Officer of the Embassy.

Academic Degree / Certificate

  • Requirements for attestation of Academic Degree / Certificate:
    • Original Passport (including subsequent additional booklets if any)
    • Photocopy of inside cover pages and other relevant pages of the passport.
    • If original degree / certificate is to be attested:
      • Original and a photocopy of the Degree/Certificate duly attested by the General Administration Department of the concerned State and the Consular Section, Ministry of External Affairs, Patiala House, New Delhi.
      • Original and a photocopy of the Mark Sheet
    • If a copy of the degree / certificate is to be attested:
      • Original and two photocopies of the Degree/Certificate duly attested by the General Administration Department of the concerned State and the Consular Section, Ministry of External Affairs, Patiala House, New Delhi.
      • Original and a photocopy of the Mark Sheet

Marriage Certificate

  • Requirements for attestation of Marriage Certificate:
    • Original Passport (including subsequent additional booklets if any)
    • Photocopy of inside cover pages and other relevant pages of the passport.
    • The original and a photocopy of the Marriage Certificate duly attested by the concerned State Government / Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi.

Life Certificate

  • Requirements for attestation of Life Certificate:
    • Original Passport (including subsequent additional booklets if any)
    • Photocopy of inside cover pages and other relevant pages of the passport.
    • Original and one photocopy of the Life Certificate in the Format prescribed by the concerned Bank/Institution to be signed before the Consular Officer of the Embassy.

Bank Account Opening Form

  • Requirements for attestation of Life Certificate:
    • Original Passport (including subsequent additional booklets if any)
    • Photocopy of inside cover pages and other relevant pages of the passport.
    • Original and one photocopy of the Account Opening Form as prescribed by the concerned Bank/Institution to be signed before the Consular Officer of the Embassy.

Baggage Rules

  • Import of Pets under Baggage

    The Central Board of Excise & Customs has re-examined the present policy of import of two pets by passengers in view of representations received in this regard.  Accordingly, it has been decided to allow import of two pet animals as baggage only to persons transferring their residence to India after two years of continuous stay abroad in terms of Baggage Rules 1998 subject to production of the required health certificate from the country of origin and examination of the said pets by the concerned Quarantine Officer.  This new dispensation shall come into force with effect from 15th April, 2013.
